homes on Hoe Avenue

Just one row of the thousands of new homes that have been built in the South Bronx, replacing the apartment buildings that burned down in the 1970s. These are three-story buildings, one “dwelling unit” per floor. It’s uncertain if these are the best style of buildings that could have been built. With their steel fences, car pads, and low density, they don’t exactly contribute to a vibrant, busy street life. But, inarguably, they are far better than the burnt-out cityscape of the late Seventies.
