Made the pilgrimage to 153rd and Elton to see Banksy’s latest work, in the Borough of The Bronx.
There were just a few other people viewing it on a sunny Saturday afternoon. The building owner has installed plexiglass in front of it and a steel roll-down door for night time, at a cost of $12,000 I was told. Good idea, but too late to prevent Skeeio from going up on Banksy’s piece.
We were taking each other’s pictures and this fellow, looking at my DLSR, asked if worked for a magazine. “No, but I have a blog.”
“Okay, I’ll be in your blog,” he responded enthusiastically.
Another fellow, not shown, held forth about the deaths of JFK, Che Guevara, John Lennon, Princess Diana, Yassir Arafat, and Hugo Chavez, all apparently assassinated by “them, the one percent.” I decided against asking to take his picture.
Detail of the young boy spray painting and his dutiful servant. Interesting concept.
Afterwards, lunch at a nearby El Valle Restaurant.
