City Island is off the Bronx coast, now largely given over to seafood restaurants and marinas, but retaining much of its independent character. Think of the Maine coast, without the touristy “cute” factor. St. Mary’s church stands near the north end of City Island Avenue.
The Nautical Museum, housing exhibits and memorabilia of the island’s rich boat-building and maritime traditions.
The Walsh Room in the Museum includes a large library of nautical books.

If you zoom in real close to some parts of City Island, it could be Cape Cod or Maine.
