Webmaster and main author of acepilots.com

This site is a home for my random, personal interests. My main website, acepilots.com, became cluttered with various content that had nothing to do with aviation and World War Two. Following the debacle of the great Google Panda update of April 11, 2011, I followed their advice and moved a lot of content off that site.

* As for the "expert and enthusiast" header, that's an inside joke. When Google launched its purge, or "upgraded its search algorithm," in April, 2011," it encouraged webmasters to ask ourselves, "Is this article written by an expert or enthusiast who knows the topic well?" One wag promptly suggested that we all run around the 'net declaring ourselves to be just that. :) Done!
The Great Depression of the 1930s caused great unemployment and hardship. The leading government program to provide employment was the Works Progress Administration (WPA). In addition to bridges, parks, roads, the WPA sponsored artistic works: theatrical productions, writing programs, and posters. These pages highlight a sample of the WPA posters, illustrating their wide range of subjects: WW2 propaganda, literacy programs, disease control, art classes, the federal writers project, national parks, etc.
Some discussion threads from acepilots' now-defunct forum (spammers!). There is a lot here - on aircraft, on pilots, from history and in the future. For the most part, I have deleted the personal comments and "noise" that inevitably crops up on any internet board. But in one case, one poster exposes another as a poseur. I left that one in. But if you are interested in great aces, great airplanes, the future of airpower, or odd Russian aircraft of the 1930's, you will find something of interest.
