So McCain will attend the debate tonight. His presence apparently delayed a deal. There is no deal at this moment. But he has resumed his non-suspended campaign and will debate.
And that accomplished what?

“His presence apparently delayed a deal.”That’s just speculation seemingly based on posturing by Democrats. It doesn’t appear that he did anything. He didn’t even take a position on the deal.”And that accomplished what?”Well, if he did actually have something to do with delaying a bad deal, then that’s an accomplishment. Otherwise it was just a publicity stunt. It got him some publicity and allows him to claim that he was willing to put the good of the country ahead of his campaign. I wouldn’t be at all surprised if Obama thought about doing the same thing.Incidentally, who’s bright idea was it to schedule the first presidential debate for a Friday night?
I wouldn’t be at all surprised if Obama thought about doing the same thing. Can’t you say anything without the “Obama is just as bad” postscript? Why would Obama do something like that? It was a transparent and stupid thing to do, and Obama, whatever you may think of his policies, is a smart and pragmatic politician.
It got him some publicity and allows him to claim that he was willing to put the good of the country ahead of his campaign. The operative word is “claim.” I think the stunt, and the fact that he took no public position on the bailout while simultaneously showing his “concern” by “Being There,” underscores just what a blithering idiot McCain is at this point on the campaign trail.
“Can’t you say anything without the “Obama is just as bad” postscript?”I didn’t say it was bad. I don’t see political ploys as necessarily bad. The point about Obama was just speculation.”Why would Obama do something like that? It was a transparent and stupid thing to do”Why was it stupid? Politicians do things to get publicity and to position themselves in a certain way. It was risky, but not stupid.”underscores just what a blithering idiot McCain is at this point on the campaign trail.”Not at all. McCain has made some smart moves and some bad moves. That particular play doesn’t really underscore anything, other than maybe that he’s willing to gamble — which we already knew.
