The Red-ruffed Lemur (Varecia rubra) lives in Madagascar’s eastern coastal region. For the taxonomically-inclined, it was formerly considered a subspecies of the Ruffed lemur (Varecia variegata). Word is that the newly promoted lemurs celebrated with a meal of their favorite fruit, leaves, seeds, nectar, insects, and small vertebrates.
These were photographed at the Bronx Zoo; they do tend to snooze a lot during the daytime.
