The East 180th Street station occupies a beautifully restored National Historic Landmark building, formerly a station on the defunct New York, Westchester, and Boston Railroad. With fifteen pieces of art by Luis Caldwell (collectively entitled Station Villa) and am MTA maintenance yard underneath, it is one of my favorite NYC subway stations. Must see it again.

The detailed Hagstrom map of The Bronx, displayed behind a window, must date from the late Sixties, as Co-op City is shown on it. I recently got the same map on eBay, but it must be an edition from a few years eaerlier,as Co-op City is shown as “under construction.”
