I saw the Winnie May in 1937 land in Greenville Ohio with a broken oil line.It was at Landsdown field.I was 12 years old. The cowling was removed and repaired. Post tested the repair job by running up the engine and blew over several motor cycles in the test. Being satisfied the cowling was replaced and he restarted his plane and disappeared going east. I saw the plane again in 1975 in the Smithsonian Museum.
I have told this story many times and not one person has believed me.
