C’mon, Stephen. Don’t you think they were there for intimidation purposes (third option: just to fly the colors)? Whether it was to intimidate McCain voters or to prevent intimidation of Obama voters, they were trying to send a message.Try this thought: Two men in hoods stand outside a polling place. What is your reaction?
If the Obama campaign had meant to suppress the vote through intimidation, they would hardly have done such a half-assed job as sending out 2 guys in Democratic Philadelphia. I’ll call it 2 over-zealous fools, or, more likely, a weak case of Republican ratfucking. I mean really – The Black Panthers? That’s so 40 years ago – unless you are still stuck in a scary-terrorist-from-40-years-ago frame of mind. And that is not Obama*. Think about it. Last night was the culmination of 150 years of civil rights striving. Obama wouldn’t sully it with such an embarassingly weak play to racial divisions. He’s too smart for that, whatever you think of his politics. *Unless it’s a subtle “make the Repubs look like fools with a pathetic racist fear play”.
Pig-Willingly conceded. No one here accused Obama, though I did run into commenters on other right wing web sites claiming this was the first instance of Obama’s “Civilian Defence Corps”.In any case, the evidence is pointing more and more to the rogue idiots theory. Although you have to admit, is is so bizarre and ill-advised for any rational Obama supporter to do this that suspicion had to be aroused.
Yeah, I know this is way too late. The guys weren’t there to intimidate the 5% of voters in that district that were Republican. They were there to intimidate the intimidators, the Republican poll challengers, who stir up bogus crap to make the lines longer and more time consuming.Did you notice that the film wasn’t from district voters, but from Rethugs sent there? Seeing that they weren’t going to be able to play their usual game, they decided on a new one.

Sorry. I should have written “white hoods”.
Well, among other minor details, the precinct voted 95% for Kerry, one guy was an official poll-watcher, and the other guy is no Obama supporter.http://www.politico.com/blogs/bensmith/1108/Panther_vs_Obama.html?showall
So it’s OK that he was only intimidating 5% of the precinct’s voters. Got it.
Yeah, I don’t see why the minor detail you provide has anything to do with what those fellows were doing. Or with their intent.
